What a Light

Alana stood on her balcony and looked out at the city below. Oh how God had blessed her! She had a good job, a safe home, and enough money to take care of her parents and herself. The only thing that was bothering her was her last conversation with Dallas. Was she too pushy when trying to lead him to the truth? Alana was a baby Christian, hungry for the Lord and very excited to share the good news. She knew that Dallas was in the Lord’s hands now, and the only thing to do was wait.

Dallas sat alone on a park bench staring at the pacific* lake. How much had he sinned? Dallas took out his smartphone and open up the notes application. He spent the next two hours writing out all his wrongdoings. As he compared all his sins to his past memory of the Ten Commandments, he knew he was doomed. How could God forgive him? The he suddenly remembered what Alana said about Jesus sacrificing himself to die for his sins. But why did Jesus have to die? Dallas looked up his question on a search browser with surprising results.

In the beginning, man killed his spirit by eating the forbidden fruit. Satan had tempted them, and God had to kick them out of the Garden of Eden. God still loved them, but they were stained with sin. The only way for mankind to be clean from sin was to give a sacrifice, like a spotless lamb. That type of sacrifice was only temporary, so humans had to continue to kill lambs to stay clean from their sins. God’s plan to save mankind was to send his only son to be the permanent ultimate sacrifice. Jesus never sinned so he was the world’s spotless lamb. Jesus loved man so much that he died for Dallas’ sins, and all he had to do was repent and ask Jesus into his life. Dallas jumped off the bench, because he knew he needed Alana’s help.

Alana scrolled the channels as she sat on her couch. There was nothing good on TV these days. Suddenly, her doorbell rang. Alana walked over and opened her door. It was Dallas! Before she could say anything, Dallas said,”I need your help.” In seconds, Alana went into command mode,”Are you hurt? Are you okay? Do you need medical assist-” “Can you help me give my life to Christ?” he interrupted. “I would love to,” she politely responded.

Mark 16:15 says,” Go ye into the world, and preach the gospel every creatures.” As God’s children, we should share the truth with those who don’t know it, just like Alana. If Dallas never met Alana, he would have never be led to Christ. Matthew 5:14 says,” Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.” If you hide your light then what’s the point of having it? I encourage you to shine for the whole world can see, and so that souls can be saved.
