No Matter the Circumstances

Dallas stared into the gigantic green eyes in front of him. Idris was a young boy, who lived in the community shelter, with piercing eyes and serious questions. They both sat together during lunch at the shelter ,when this little guy had asked him,”If God loves me so much, then why is my family poor?” Dallas was surprised and curious about the answer too. He decided that his own knowledge wouldn't supply an answer, and it would only come from God himself. Dallas left his volunteering excursion that day ready to dig.

‘Where is the answer?!?,” Dallas thought as he sat in frustration. He had been studying the Bible for hours, and found nothing to answer Idris’ question. ‘I should call Alana. She always has insight,’ he decided. She answered on the second ring. “Hey Dallas. What’s up?” Alana cheerfully greeted. “Hey, Alana. I’m have a little problem, and I was hoping you could shed a little wisdom.” he answered. “Sure! What can I help with sir? Taxes? Real estate?” Alana joked, as Dallas chuckled in response. “Very funny. Well, I was volunteering at the community shelter, like every other Saturday, when Idris asked me….”

When Dallas hung up the phone, he had all the information he needed to answer Idris’ question. Following Alana’s instruction, Dallas flipped his Bible to the the book of Job. He finished it in an hour. What a story! Job was a prosperous man, who loved the Lord. The Lord let Satan test Job, to show the Devil what a wonderful servant of God he was. Satan killed all his cattle (seven thousand sheep, three thousand camels, five hundred yoke of oxen, and five hundred donkeys) and his children (seven sons and three daughters). Job still praised the Lord and didn’t blame the Lord. Satan even gave him sickness, and yet he didn’t curse God. Job even blamed himself, but not God. Job just thanked God for everything he still had. God restored everything that Job lost and more! Dallas was excited to go back to the shelter next week to tell Idris everything.

God blesses his people and want what is best for them. Even if bad things happen to you, God is still watching over you. So remember 1 Thessalonians 5:18,” In all things, give thanks.” So give thanks when you are in prosperity or in hardship, just like Job. The Lord will bless you when you are always thankful no matter the circumstances.
