Answered Prayers

Dallas was intimidated. On the day he met up with Art and Alana, he had set up a meeting with the head manager of Timid Oaks Retirement Home. He wanted to set up a schedule to come and volunteer weekly. Dallas sat alone in the head manager’s, Elona Ferris, office. She was bound to come any second, and he had heard she was one stern woman. Many people who came to her ,asking to volunteering for the home, were turned down. He prayed the night before the meeting asking God to soften her heart towards him. The moment of truth came as she walk in the door with a grim smirk.

Glory to God! The meeting was more than a success it was a miracle! Mrs. Ferris had not only allowed him full access to the Timid Oaks, but also offered him a job in the main office. Dallas accepted it without any hesitation. His job at the supermarket wasn’t going very well the past few days. He had broken many products causing his already small paycheck to shrink. Also, Dallas’ manager was threatening to fire him every shift. His prayers had been answered! “When would you like to start, sonny?” Mrs. Ferris inquired. “As soon as possible, ma’am,” he respond. “Come by to tomorrow. Also, don’t call me ma’am, just Elona. I’m not that old,” she said with a laugh.

Alana woke up to her doorbell ringing. She was late to work! “Note to self: Buy new loud alarm clock,” she thought as she hurriedly dressed. She grabbed a bagel, her cold brew, her keys, and opened the door. Dallas! “Hey, Dallas! I would love to talk to you, but I’m late for work,” she pressed. “Hey! That’s hilarious, because it’s a-” he retorted. “Gotta go!” she said as ran past him. Why did you have to come now Dallas? Alana hopped into her car and turned on the radio. “What a beautiful summer day, folks!” the disco jockey announced. Alana drove onto the highway as the DJ talked about the wonderful Saturday weather. Wait, Saturday! She turned around and cruised back to her apartment. If only she didn’t cut off Dallas off, she would have saved a little bit of gas.

Dallas smirked as he saw Alana pull in her driveway. “So how was work?” he said with a laugh. “Oh, don't start. Sorry for interrupting you before. So what did you want to talk about?” she asked. “No problem. God answered my prayers. I prayed for the ability to volunteer at Timid Oaks and a new job, and both were fulfilled,” he answered. “Hallelujah! Mark 11:24 says,’Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.’ God listens to your prayers, and wants to help you. How about I treat you to some ice cream to celebrate, but first let me get dressed,” she kindly offered. “Thanks. I’ve been craving something sweet,” he accepted with a smile.

God love his children, and wants to answer your prayers. His answers may not always be yes, but they are always for your best interest. Philippians 4:19 says,”My God will meet all your needs according to glorious riches in Christ Jesus.” He will take care of you, so pray and wait for his answer.
